Income tax

I moved to the UK about 3 years back and I am unaware of how taxes work. I here on residency visa. My work has paid tax on my behalf when I earned less than £2,000 this tax year (april 2021 - april 2021). How do I get my tax back since you need earn £12,500 annually to be eligible to pay tax.
