repeated first year no funding due to mental health

Hi,
my friend has done first year of uni twice. He started second year uni but had to drop out due to mental health issues. Due to this he has received 3 years of student finance funding. He was going to start second year again in september a few months ago, but SFE wouldn’t give him another year of funding.
He is able to provide proof from his doctor that the reason he left second year was due to mental health issues.
Is there anyway he can start second year again and receive the funding for it if he provides this evidence?

Hi Rach, full time undergraduate applicants can receive funding for the length of their course + 1 additional year - any previous study.

He would need to provide evidence of Compelling Personal Reasons to be funded for a second repeat year.

You can find out more information about CPR here http://ow.ly/MsMM30pjjOm
