Collagen is a protein molecule consisting of amino acids. It provides structural support to support the extracellular space of connective tissues. Due to its rigidity and fibre content, it's able to structure and support cells to each other, providing strength and elasticity (physiopedia and Biochemistry, Collagen Synthesis 2021).
