Difference between taking Language Linguistics and Literature/CW?

What is the difference between Language/Linguistics and Literature/Creatie writing, essentially in terms of the nucleus and professional prospectus of the degrees? The fact that English isn't my native language should be an aspect to consider?, as I believe language and linguistics would be harder for a foreign student but I got to say it is something that interests me as well, though I find it more likely to struggle.

I m interested in studying to become a writer, screenwriter, basically any job that allows me to write creatively and dwell on linguistic devices and such. Jobs within this realm are always hard to define, or to specify in the future, furthermore I dont know the english american literary market that well.
