Bristol or St Andrews?

Hello!

I’m debating between choosing University of Bristol and St Andrews University as my firm. I’ve applied and received conditional offer for Msci Management and innovation for Bristol and Management for St Andrews. Both wants AAA.

Here is my list of pros and cons of both unis so far:
Reasons for Bristol
- 4 years for a master > worth it
- 2 hours to and from London, an hour or two to Bath (I love the location basically)
- Bristol seems more suitable for networking and innovation unlike St Andrews
- The course I chosen is very interesting
- about 90% is coursework each year which I prefer over timed exams > I preform better

Reasons against Bristol
- not as good of a ranking (at least for my parent’s standards)

On the other hand…

Reasons for St Andrews
- beautiful location
- love the traditions
- course is quite interesting
- very high student satisfaction
- average 3rd best university in UK

Reasons against St Andrews
- very far from London and other cities
- I hate the flexible course
- 4 years for just a BSC
- doesn’t seem like a suitable place for networking

I’m an international student so I cannot visit UK for an open day.

Everyone around me keeps pressuring me to choose St Andrews and I don’t understand why they want me to go there so badly.

Any words of wisdom on Bristol or St Andrews?

i would say go to bristol it doesnt really matter how high ranked a university is, it's all about the experience as well as the course. it doesnt matter where you get your degree from networking is really the only way you can get a successful job nowadays. you should prioritise the social aspect over the educational aspect because at the end of the day you want to have fun
if you cant make a decision try see if there are any online open days i think bristol is doing them.
good luck

I am sailing the same boat, got accepted in St Andrew as well as Bristol. I did my bit of research and here are my findings
St Andrews:
1) St Andrew is more prestigious in UK being third oldest university as well as ranked always in top five in UK in League Table
2) Course structure is modular and more flexible
3) Great Location (For placement, I was told that they have excellent career guidance and many companies visit them (fingers crossed))
4) Four year course but that is Ok since you learn better and have an opportunity to study abroad for one year
5) Higher cost Tuition fees and extra year of study
6) Students with minimum 90% Marks at higher secondary are accepted
7) Less number of students (<10,000) acceptance rate is very low 8.5%
Bristol:
1) Good International reputation
2) Close to London and Bristol is a good city as well
3) Less Tuition fees compared to St Andrew
4) Three year course (four years optional with study abroad)
5) Students with minimum 85% marks at higher secondary are accepted
6) Big university (> 30,000 students) hence acceptance rate is higher 60%

If financing is not an issue then I would suggest go for St Andrews. I am awaiting scholarship decision before I take a final call
