What career could I go into with this degree?

Hey!

With subjects like Philosophy, the main pathway people go down if they want to specialise in that subject specifically is often Higher Education (i.e a Masters, a PhD) which involves research and, with a PhD, lecturing. You could also go into teaching this subject as a GCSE or A-Level (and equivalent levels) at Further Education institutions and/or secondary schools.

However, this kind of pathway isn't always going to be for everyone which is okay! During your degree you would pick up many transferable skills which you could apply to other types of jobs. This Prospects website link summarises a list of jobs where you could apply these kinds of skills: https://www.prospects.ac.uk/careers-advice/what-can-i-do-with-my-degree/philosophy. In these jobs you would still be able to use skills which Philosophy involves and apply them to other scenarios which can be quite refreshing and exciting, depending on what you're interested in and the kind of things you like to do.

There are lots of options available, and a lot of the time universities have careers departments which can help you decide and plan for future career pathways so you will always have support so don't need to feel like you need to decide here and now! If you end up following a pathway which isn't directly related to Philosophy, nothing stops you from enjoying the subject in your free time and getting involved in different groups and things outside of your work life

I hope this helps!
