Two different Unis - Leicester Uni is big and a very mixed Uni population in a bigger city, Lancaster is much smaller and quieter and the Uni is smaller and possibly more 'academic' than Leicester.
Been to both on open day and both had very different feels to it. With Leicester daughter liked the uni, the library, student union, she liked oadby student village but not all properties. It was also close to her (we live in Notts).
Lancaster is further away has a nice campus vibe to it, lots more eateries and library is enormous. Lancaster uni is away from the city so is quieter as its in village called Bailrigg, but does not mean the campus is quiet. Each college has a bar and theres several buses which go to the city which is about 15 mins away. And lancaster city is not bad when it comes to night life. Its got 3 clubs and lots of bars so does hold its own. Shes in Lancaster in second year now and is happy she chose it

Thank you for help it’s just I feel like I may get homesick just cuz Lancaster’s rlly far away and moving would be a hassle but nevertheless thank u for help I appreciate it

Aww, well im sure you will make the right choice. Homesickness is not nice, but they do say come freshers week to not make contact with the family so you get used to your new surroundings. Perhaps like I suggested if you did Leicester, but if you do make friends, you could move out in second year? Then you have benefits of still being local, but that independence.

Im unsure on which one to choose as Lancaster’s quite far away and Leicester’s near .
Oh and I’ve applied for business and management

Hey @Newcomer113,

I think there is probably a few factors you should consider here
- Location absolutely matters, but don't go to one uni just because of location- many people find they become much more independent during uni, and so its worth going considering other aspects of uni life
- Do you want a bigger or a smaller university?
- Do you care about rankings or prestige?
- Do you want a self-contained campus or a city campus?
- How about accommodation?
- How about the area and city?
- Not sure where you live, but its relatively easy to get to most places from Lancaster on the train- essentially, although it does matter there's so much worth considering!

My best advice would be to visit both universities to get a "sense" of the place. I'd honestly go based of that, and other factors I've mentioned. This includes course structure, teaching methods- all the way to what sort of support is offered!

I hope you find the university that suits you best  Ultimately it's a good idea to go visit, and speak to people to both attend and teach/work at each university.

Hope this helps and good luck on your decision!

I am considering moving out in Leicester but I feel like people would judge me cuz there’s no point really and also Leicester’s business’s school is isolated from the main campus which I feel like will make it kinda hard to socialise with people

I dont think people will judge, theres a lot of people who live locally and commute into their uni. There will be societies that you can join still, as well as the people you meet in the business school.

I know people at Leicester university who come from Leicester but live in student accommodation for various reasons including getting more of the student experience. I don't think you should worry about being judged if you don't live at home in Leicester.
