Clearing

I’m just in need of some information about clearing. I did horrifically in my year 12 mocks which caused my UCAS grades to be slightly lower than I was capable of, therefore I received a rejection and a foundation year offer from my two top choices. I’ve now just sat my first set of year 13 mocks and achieved ABB in them, which i’m confident will increase or remain the same for the real things. I have however already selected two other universities for my firm and insurance choices(BBB and BBC offers), but in the circumstances I get higher grades, do i have an obligation to go to my firm choice, or do i have an option to reject those choices and go into clearing for a place elsewhere? and if so how would i go about that?
Once your firm choice is unconditional you can use “decline my choice” option on the ucas website to place yourself into clearing instantly
Clearing is never a good idea if you can avoid it.

Its the January sales - you will not find every course/Uni in Clearing and your choice is lkely to be limited to the type of Unis where you already hold offers. If you get decent grades, its always a better idea to simply reapply in the autumn for 2023 entry. You will have acheivedgrades so know exactly where you can realistically apply, you get a chance to see those Unis before you apply, and there isnt the same element of panic - and you get a break between school and Uni, and time to think about what you want to do next.

You can reject your place at any time really. While clearing isn't a great option it is an option but be very sure before you pull the trigger because once you do your firm or insurance is gone. If your course is there in clearing then you can go for it but again you need to be very sure.
