How do I move on?

Hi everyone.
Ok, so in a nutshell:
Before I came to university I met a girl doing my course on facebook, and we bonded quite quickly. We eventually had a date, but then I took too long to make my next move and she ended up going out with another guy on a date.
We've kept talking on facebook, but we like each other to the point that transpiring that in front of other people would be awkward, so we pretend to barely know each other when we do meet. She says she can't be with me, not only because she's seeing the other guy now but also because she can't handle a relationship with me. Apparently she thinks if we were together the idea that I could leave her would haunt her, and she's also been doing quite badly academically because of all the drama coming with this. This makes no sense to me, because I really can't see how I would ever consider leaving her if we were together.
She's told me she loves me, and I've told her I love her, but she just won't be in a relationship with me. She's happy having this platonic thing with me while seeing another guy, which I think is unfair to everyone, except for her.
I really can't see this going anywhere, but what can I do to forget the best thing that's happened to me in years?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I'm sorry to say it but she doesn't 'love' you. If she wanted to be with you she would, it's as simple as that, and it will suck but you need to try and get over her.
so u only went on 1 date and only kept in touch on facebook and now u 2 love eachother......
hmmm sounds alienated to me sorry no offence
