Hi!

I'm a 4th Year student at the University of Nottingham, I have never been to Nottingham Trent, but I can describe my experience here at UoN and how much I've loved the past 4 years here!

Firstly the University of Nottingham is a Russell Group university, whereas Nottingham Trent is not, so it does have a better reputation than Nottingham Trent.

I don't know what the campus is like at Nottingham Trent, but the campus here at UoN has lots of green spaces, I love having scenic walks to lectures every morning! I love how the campus has everything that you need and there are many places to socialise on campus like student bars and cafes. There are also free hopper buses that students can use to go between campuses.

Hope this helps!

Hi thank you so much for your response , do you go into city center for nights out etc ? Would you describe UoN very sociable and vibey ?
Hiya!

I go to neither UoN or NTU but from what I've seen (from open days) one big difference is that UoN is a campus uni and NTU is a city uni. Which would you prefer? I think UoN is probably more well regarded but I may be wrong on that

Edit to add: I know people at both NTU and UoN and they both seem to have a great social life, I think Nottingham as a city is great for night life so I would worry about that too much :yep:

Overall Nottingham definitely has a better reputation but for most grad schemes etc the difference is minimal.
In general NTU has a more ‘party’ lifestyle but you can find people who are very social and go out all the time at both unis. You can also find people who don’t go out at all and don’t socialise at all at both! So really it’s down to who you make friends with!
I’d chose UoN personally because you come out with a more respected degree and the social life is still very very good! I have friends at both but overall I’d say UoN is a mix of working hard and having fun whereas NTU has some people who work very hard but it’s generally more about just having fun!
Hiya, Im a second year at UoN and my boyfriend is at Trent. University of Nottingham is a russel group university so has a higher reputation than Trent, however both are great unis with sociable lifestyles at both. The social and nightlife is very similar since both have specific club nights at the student only club in Nottingham city centre. The university park campus is lovely, so green, there are many bars inside the accommodations on campus as well as only being a short bus or tram journey away from the centre! Overall, I would definitely say go with whichever course feels most challenging but exciting and with better career and post-uni statistics. If you have any further questions, please ask!

Hi thank you so much for this, since you went to UoN, did you find it hard that after a night out in city center you would have to walk back alone or hop on a tram or bus to your accommodation at UoN ? This is what I think I'm most worried about !

Also with regards to grocery shopping etc , are they only in city center ? So if you need to run to the shops for milk etc you'd need to hop on a bus/ tram ?
Also late at night are the busses and trams working ?

I personally am not into nights out, but I know that there are many different clubs in the city centre that are easy to get to by bus or tram and from what people tell me they really enjoy it there! I do go into the city centre with friends to socialise, for example in Nov/Dec there is always a Winter Wonderland in Old Market Square where there are rides and ice skating and stalls, so it's a really nice atmosphere and there's so much else to do in the city centre as well!

UoN as a uni is very sociable, there are over 200 societies, so you're bound to find one that you will be interested in. Each society has social events like boat parties and nights out so there's always something to do.

Hope this helps!

After a night out there are night busses through 1am-5am straight back onto campus and most of the time youd be with friends from campus anyways! So I defo wouldnt worry about travelling home!!
If youre on campus then there are lots of catered halls then spar on campus. If youre off campus theres a huge Tesco about a 15 min walk from Broadgate Park or a Lidl less than 15 mins walk away from riverside point! super convenient!
