Sheffield University *ADOPT SCHEME*

Hey people,

I recently submitted an application to gain entry onto this really exciting scheme - ADOPT 2008. Basically, the scheme is for Year 12 students who are interested in a career in dentistry, as a dentist, hygienist or therapist.

The aim of the two-year programme is to encourage students from backgrounds which are under-represented in higher education.

The University of Sheffield has introduced this scheme as they would like to help these stduents overcome the barriers that might discourage them from applying for a place at university.

Apparently, in the two years on the scheme, studetts will get to see what it´s like to work in dentistry, with the emphasis on hands-on activities and student interaction. They´ll work with staff and students in the Dental School, and receive realistic personal advice about a career in dentistry.

So anyway, has anybody else submitted an application to gain entry on to this scheme?

Thanks for reading. Byeee.x

hey i would just like to thank you for posting this thread up! I saw it a while ago, as it had 'sheffield university in the title' i wanted to see what it was about, because i am applying there. AAnyway, i'm thanking you because they actually asked me a question about this in my sheffield interview.
They asked, 'Do you know about any schemes sheffield has to encourage future dentists?' so i was able to say confidently ADOPT SCHEME! so thanks again, i wouldn't have known about this if u didn't post the thread.

thanks a lot!! xxx
