My son has received an offer from Keele. A lovely university however a bit worried about the social scene /things to do given its location. Is this anything to worry about? Still awaiting to hear from another city uni, but tempted to firm Keele. Thank you

Hi, I'm a current student at Keele and just thought I'd add my personal experience of the social scene at Keele. I've found that there's lots to do on campus. The student's union puts on lots of events - for example, this year there has been weekly quiz nights and karaoke as well as nights out in the Students union. On top of this there are over 120 societies and sports clubs that run activities and socials that you can get involved in. I've taken part in activities such as movie nights, games nights and trips off campus to do things such as mini golf with the society that I'm part of.
Keele is just a short bus journey from the nearest town - Newcastle-under-Lyme where there is a cinema, bowling alley, laser quest and much more including bars and restaurants. Nearby there is also the city of Stoke-on-Trent where there are even more activities as well as the fact that it is only a short train journey to Manchester and Birmingham for even more to do.
Hope this helps,
Lucy

where is everyone applying for accommodation, and are the buses at Keele free if you apply for houses further away from the medical centre, as you have to walk further. I am just wondering because my first choice is barnes, however accommodation is not guaranteed .

from the offer conditions on UCAS it doesn't specify what the B can/cannot be in so I would take that to mean it can be anything, worth clarifying with the uni if you're not sure though

Hi @dominicgeorge16, the buses that run between Keele campus, the town centre and the hospital aren't free but there are several different options for bus tickets. You can get cheaper tickets by purchasing either a bundle of 10 tickets or you can buy year or month passes. To get up to date ticket prices I would recommend looking at the first bus website as the no. 25 bus is the one that runs between the university, town and hospital.
Hope this helps and if you have any more questions about accommodation, feel free to ask
