There's a big gap between GCSE and A level.

If you only got a 5 it does sound concerning :frown:

Most A levels need a 6 in the subject at GCSE.

I assume that's why the OP can't.

@Acuityo have you considered resitting GCSE Maths privately first and seeing how you do?

Cus its trash literally horrendous i was getting 6s until they gave me the wrong paper (foundation) in the exam hall and was forced to do foundation from then on. I was told it would be okay as i can sit a level maths at the school with a grade 5, on the first day of our maths lesson the teacher kicked out anyone with a grade 7 or below

If I were you, I'd just try to take it regularly at A-Level. I got something like a C in GCSE Maths, ended with an A* at A-Level. I believe a 5 is equivalent to the old-grade C (back in 2015.) If you're being refused, find another institution to try at.

There are no requirements laid down for taking A level Maths - you don't have to have taken the GCSE at all to take it as a private candidate - but people with a grade 7 tend to find it pretty challenging - so don't assume that studying it privately is necessarily a great option if you don't have the grades to take it in school.

I can't quite understand the timeline of why you're asking this now, but re-sitting the GCSE as a private candidate so you can do A level in sixth form is a cheaper option than entering for the A level as a private candidate.

Ain’t no way seriously? That’s mad. But you can change tiers on the day of the exam? I might do this…

There are people in my class who got a 6 in GCSE maths and are really struggling on alevel so I wouldn't recommend unless you have access to a lot of tutoring.

Wow that is impressive! Any words of advice on how I can improve my maths grade at A level?
