Spanish with Tesol

Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone knew what universities offered Spanish with Tesol / TEFL , I've seen some (i.e Manchester met) have it in the title but some just have it in the modules so if anyone could help me out that would me amazing<3
You may find that doing a more general degree and then doing a TESOL teaching course gves you far more flexibility - as you have discovered there are not many TESOL options at undergraduate level, and a wider degree is often safer in case you change you mind about your eventual career mid-degree.

Hi @tanwana

We do offer BA (Hons) Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) / Spanish, you can find more information here: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/course/ba-teaching-english-to-speakers-of-other-languages-tesol-spanish

Our course places language learning within the wider context of Spanish studies including culture, society, literature, film and history. The language units emphasise communicating effectively and developing transferable skills such as translating, interpreting and interview techniques, with practical language classes embracing speaking, listening, reading and writing. We offer a wide choice of units related to Spain which may include society, cinema, culture and linguistics. Our course is designed to help you achieve your full potential in a challenging and lively environment and enhance your employability in a competitive market.

TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) explores how English and other languages are most effectively learnt and taught all over the world. You may have heard it referred to as TEFL or EFL. On this course, you will learn to analyse teaching methods and materials, build a repertoire of language activities and study the sounds and key grammatical features of English. Your TESOL studies will include detailed study of the English language itself, the latest and most effective techniques and methods of teaching, psychology, and learning styles and patterns.

You can view the units involved with this course on the link above! Alternatively, you may wish to view some of the subject presentations on our virtual experience here:https://virtualexperience.mmu.ac.uk/ Watching the subject presentations for the course may help you learn about more about the course and what it will entail!

I hope this helps.

Essex offer two options, one being Language Studies with TEFL, which is a 3-year course and the other being Modern Languages with TEFL, which is a 4-year course including third year abroad.

My daughter recently graduated from Essex (she did modern languages and translation) and was very pleased with the course and the uni.
