I have applied to 6 unis in Ontario as well as UBC, Alberta, McGill, Victoria and might also apply to Calgary and SFU. I'll be doing premed.

Anyone else going to Canada? Which uni and what course?

Man you must have spend a lot on application fees! BTW, what are their visa requirements ? I am thinking of applying to York University in Toronto and University of Regina in Saskatchewan.

And what are the fees in general? I'd have thought they'd be exorbitant.

Not bad...these choices are pretty good. However...I'm not sure if University of Calgary or Simon Fraser University are good choices. The rest are good.

Which 6 universities are you applying in Ontario?

I wouldnt say gulable tbh.

Anyway, If your going single you will have an incredible time. Just opening your mouth creates a huge talking point and it's easy pickings from then on

I spent 3 months there and fell in love with the place and its people, they have a much more friendly, willing to help kind of attitude, made me realise how **** England really is.

I've applied to Ottawa, Mcgill, Windsor and Cape Breton. Though I must admit its just a pipedream, there is no way I can afford the international fee's (1 year of study there costs nearly the same as 3 here). I may have to settle for a single year post grad after I finish Uni here.

To the folks going there, how are you affording it? Parents with lots of money? (that is not meant to be a dig btw)

I love Canada, and I was considering it, but it would be too expensive. I intend to go there for my 'study abroad' year at university though, and many move there afterwards...
I'm hoping to go there next year on the Junior Year Abroad program - the whole process of applying starts this monday for me, so am well excited.
Apparently, my department usually sends students to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver or Queen's University, Ontario.
Not too picky about which one - I'd just love to spend a year studying abroad, and Canada appeals to me a lot more than America
I love the UBC campus.
Wreck beach is a nudist beach ^_^
And China Town in Vancouver's really awesome.
I love Canada, I just wish I had the money to go there to study >.<
Also, apparently Guelph is good for medical courses

In ontario I've got Toronto, York, Ottawa, McMaster, Western Ontario and Queens.
Yes, the fees are expensive, 100$ each and then you have to pay exam boards to have your documents sent and so on. It's an investment for me though since getting the chance to do Premed and eventually med there would be great. SFU isn't a great uni but is ok for Premed to be honest. Calgary is a decent uni as far as I'm aware.
You would apply for a student visa unless you have family there in which case they might be able to sponsor you or if you're going with someone who has a professional job, the could get a job there and go through the skilled worker stuff or at least get a temporary work visa.

The fees are expensive...I must say...but it's totally worth it.

I'm not sure if University of Ottawa, Queen's University or York University is that good...but your other choices are good. :p:

I lived 10 minute away from Jane and Finch for 4 and a half years.

I passed through the York Campus a lot of times. It's actually about 15-20 minutes away from the really ghetto places (where you can score some drugs or get stabbed or shot for some lame reason).

Like 3-4 months ago, there were a bunch of rape/ assault incidences involving York female students.

Ah...I see. I know that it isn't a good neighbourhood...but York University isn't a bad place.

I know that there have been a lot of rape and assult incidents in these past few months...but you can always live away from the vicinity.
Hey, am about to apply to McGill and perhaps either UBC/UT/York for Economics or commerce. Is being predicted 35/36 for the IB sufficient?

Also, with regards to costs, is canadian HE generally cheaper than UK? Because i'm from Hong Kong and would have to pay international fees at both. Also, Canadian degrees are 4 years and UK ones are 3 years. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hey, it depends really. It would be much cheaper for me to go to Canada because the exchange rate for the pound is much higher than the CAD. It would also depend on which part of the U.K. you would be going to because accomodation and such would be much more expensive.

As a side note, how long does it take UoT to send an email acknowledgement? Im waiting:rolleyes:
