Hey guys, I am currently a student at McGill (BA Joint honors in classics and ancient history), and I simply love it. If you have any questions concerning the city or the uni itself, feel free to ask me, I'd be glad to help you out. The campus is great, the atmosphere is very friendly, and the city has the best nightlife in Canada.
Oh and by the way, don't be put off by the fact it's a francophone city: most people I know got by without speaking three words of French. (Although going to McGill is a great opportunity to learn French, obviously.)

I wish those of you moving to Canada in September the best of luck!!!

As a student at McGill, I thought you may be able to help me - I'm looking to study at McGill University for one semester for the Universitas 21 exchange programme - how many credits would I need to do for just this one semester? I need to select modules but I don't know how many I need to pick.
I'm studying French, Spanish and beginner's German here and I'm not sure how I would do that combination at McGill because it's all Major and Minor, so does that mean you can only do 2 subjects?

I'm hoping to do a Master's in Musicology; I've applied to Toronto and McGill. They seem to be two very good universities indeed, although I haven't looked in to many others. I'd be delighted to go to either one! Found out last week I won a CRSF Scholarship which pays for tuition and gives me a stipend for 2011-2013, which was just the most amazing surprise and massive relief, since I have no idea how generous funding is for Master's courses! In any case, I certainly have no capital to my name!

Good luck to everyone applying! Incidentally, does anyone know when admissions decisions are sent out? I'm guessing March, or is it much, much later?!

I'm sorry, I really don't know much about that. All I can tell you is that one of my best mates studied at University of Calgary last year (semester abroad) and he enjoyed it A LOT. It was the best 6 months of his life, and he made me very jealous :frown:

I've applied to McGill for political science. And I'm going to send my application for IR/Peace and Conflict to University of Toronto, but I read that you had to apply for three universities on OUAC? What if I'm only interested in one? :s

The downside with OUAC is that you must apply to 3 universities. If not, and you decide on choosing only one, you are still charged the base application fee (which results to the amount you would pay if youd apply for 3 unis).

UOAC is supposed to cheapen the amount to pay for applications in general, since it costs $120 for 3 unis and an additional $40 per additional app.

I think it's possible, however, to apply individually to each university directly and not through OUAC.. are you from canada?

add me to the club!

I've applied to Waterloo, Alberta, Queen's and McMaster and might apply to Calgary soon. I'm going for bachelors in mechanical engineer.

AS-BBB (i know that sucks was expecting AAA, will retake 2 units and I just need 4 marks in math, and 2 physics will possibly get AAB)

A2-AAA (predicted)

lots of extra curricular and student council activities.

is this going to get me anywhere?-_-

I've applied to Dalhousie and UPEI. I would much rather go to Dalhousie though!

To study - Political Science and Russian

Do all Unis in Canada ask for 5 A-Level subjects? I only looked at 3 but that's the minimum they asked for!

Hello there everyone!

I've applied for B of A (I intend to study history) to the U of T and UBC. So far, UBC unconditionally accepted me  and U of T is currently deciding on my application.

But now I'm beginning to face a pretty big dilemma. After all, the tuition fees are very high for intl. students in Canada and so I would deeply regret getting into an institution that I would get to dislike, especially if it was to be because of it's academic performance.

Therefore, anyone here have positive/negative experiences with the quality of teaching, structure of the degree and so on? I couldn't have not noticed that UBC was mentioned as not being so good for an B of A degree...:frown:

Thanks a lot for any insight!

Just got a conditional offer from UPEI for Bachelor of Arts

Also! Could somebody help me with this? UPEI have changed their entry criteria, it is now this:
Admission to first year may be on the basis of five appropriate General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) subjects at the Ordinary Level, including English Language and Mathematics. Advanced Level examination results received directly from the appropriate Examination Board which are appropriate to the intended program of studies will be assessed for advanced standing and credit. A maximum of three Advanced Level examination results may be presented for a maximum of six transfer credits. Credit normally will be granted only for grades of “C” or higher.

So what they're asking for is 5 GCSE subjects??
And A-Level subjects are okay and will be reviewed for possible transfer credits but they aren't necessarily needed?
Have I got that right? It seems strange.

I have a sibling at the University of Calgary and she adores it, apparently the teaching is very good.

The people are just your typical friendly fun-loving Canadians

I will like to get information about cheap schools in Canada also with my qualifications what are the advantages for me getting a job while studying. Getting a job in Germany is some how difficult because i don't speak German. I speak just English and french.

I have the following qualifications

Cisco certified network associate
Cisco certified Network Professional
Microsoft certified IT professional
Linux Red Hat certified Engineer

All these certificates are from the USA

Affording the school fees would be a hassle for me so i need to work and pay.

I found out this school very very cheap www.mun.ca
