I've applied for the Canadian Memorial Foundation Scholarship to do a Maters in Canada. Chosen Uni's are Carleton Uni, York Uni and UBC. I think Carleton is the only option as the other two are quite demanding.

Are the majority of Canadian Maters 2 years?

Well...I think York University and UBC would be great choices!

Hey, am about to apply to McGill and perhaps either UBC/UT/York for Economics or commerce. Is being predicted 35/36 for the IB sufficient?

Also, with regards to costs, is canadian HE generally cheaper than UK? Because i'm from Hong Kong and would have to pay international fees at both. Also, Canadian degrees are 4 years and UK ones are 3 years. Thanks in advance for the advice.

In my opinion...I think York University and University of Toronto would be good choices too. UBC...I'm uncertain about that.

As for costs...I think UK would be cheaper. Besides...were you a citizen in Hong Kong before 1997 and born there? If you were...then you should have gotten home status for UK universities!

However...if it is international costs that you're talking about...then I guess Canada would be a better choice. The exchange rate is really high though...but I guess it would be worse if you're talking about HKD to GBP.

Carleton is not too difficult to get in, so don't worry.

Look out for the giant spider!

It isn't difficult to get in...but I don't think it's that reputable. :frown:

A lot of my Canadian friends are going to UOttawa for grad school for economics and sciences.

It has some good programs but overall....

We're talking about Carleton University...not University of Ottawa. University of Ottawa is only good because it's a bilingual university...and the fact that it is located in the capital city of Canada.

Obviously that's the case! However...I heard that Carleton's architectural program isn't bad. :yep:

Well...that I don't know...but I think it is good...considering that the number of enrollment in the architectural program is very minimal.

Well im not that reputable. I got a 2:1 from the University of Huddersfield (Patrick Stewart stomping ground). Carleton is my only option to do Film at Masters level, as York & UBC demand you do film at undergraduate level, I did Entrepreneurship.

Hi netizens! :woo:

I went to McGill's website for about an hour or so but cant seem to find specific grade/subject requirements for their courses! All I found was that we needed a minimum of B,C,C or so but no specific course requirements! :frown:

Also i have another question, saw this on their website:

"You must arrange for your school to send McGill University an official transcript of your complete high school record to date. Transcripts should show interim grades for the current year for courses in progress.

If you have completed Advanced Level, Advanced Subsidiary, CAPE, Ordinary Level, GCSE, HKCEE, or CSEC, you must arrange for your school to forward a certified photocopy of the certificate(s) and/or Candidate Statement(s) of Results to McGill. "

Surely I can send a photocopied version to them by myself without asking the school to do it for me? :frown:

No, that wouldn't be 'official.'

Pretty much decided: applying for bachelor of arts faculties at McGill and UBC! What do you reckon my chances are, with 35/36 predicted for the IB?

Hmm, so guys have any of you figured out the required specific grades needed to enter each McGill course? I cant seem to find on it on their website

Well...I think the school has to certify it and stamp it to show that it is official...so I don't think that you can send a photocopy to McGill University.

You won't be able to find out the required specific grades on the website. To be honest...it really depends on which course you're taking and the competition among you and your other fellow international competitors.

So...which course are you applying for? :p:

I recommend York though...I think it is a great university for film studies...so you should grasp this chance! As for UBC, it is a great university generally...but I don't think that it is the type of universities where art is their forte.

I'm just speechless for Carleton University.
