Hi Itoldyoubefore

Hopefully, some students will find your thread and let you know their experiences at Leeds Beckett or Manchester Met!

However, i thought it might be helpful if i told you a little bit about our course and Manchester Met.

We teach this course entirely online, so you can study from the comfort of your own home. All lectures and live sessions are recorded so that you can manage your weekly study schedule in a way that suits you.

Our teaching staff includes practicing researchers, counsellors, and forensic and community psychologists. Our MSc Psycholgoy course was shortlisted for course of the year, at The Manchester Met Union Teaching Awards 2021.

You will study core and optional units. You will usually study two option units (one on the PgDip route). These focus on professional skills and introduce you to areas of psychology you could specialise in when you graduate.

Some of the option units we’ve run in previous years include Educational Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Conceptual, and Historical Issues in Counselling and Psychotherapy Health Psychology, Coaching and Clinical neuroscience. For each specialist unit, you’ll learn from lecturers with expertise in these areas of Psychology.

You will have a personal tutor, who provides you with both academic and personal support throughout this course who will be available to you over teams, email or skype to contact.

To help you study at masters level, we organise a number of online skills sessions in areas such as critical writing, searching for information in the library, and career options. You can also access these facilities on-campus if you wish.

I hope some of this helps!

Carly

Hello! If you had your heart set on either one I can tell you I have had positive experiences with both. I did find that the social sciences department at MMU was particularly good across Psychology/Criminology/and Sociology, and the higher the level you studied the better the tutors tended to be.

I would assume you have studied psychology before? If not, Arden does a fantastic conversion program which is where I did my MSc in Psychology and I had a great time
