Diagnostic Imaging - GCU

I have a conditional offer to study Diagnostic Imaging at Glasgow Caledonian starting September 2022.
I have a child and am trying to find out what a rough timetable looks like for the course, how many days per week in uni and how often placement occurs. Is there no class time the weeks you are in placement?
Also if the course works similarly to nursing in that a bursary is offered.
Any advice would be great, thanks 😊

Hi

You'll probably be working a 12 hour shift on 3 various days in the week similar to nurses.
Your course is 4 years and you'll probably be doing placements blocks of approx 7 weeks at a time similar time spent in university on non placement week's.
Usually you don't do classes while you're on placement but expected to do some researching and revision while you are on placement still.

Why don't you contact the university you wanting to do this at for more information on things as this would probably be more helpful 😜😜😜. Didn't they not give you this information about the course...

You'll need to contact SAAS about things and what you are entitled to for yourself and childcare.

I'm a NHS Scotland dual registered adult nurse and midwife.

Hi
placement is a 7 hour shift two days every second week during first year, on placement weeks there are still classes (this was mostly at home for us but may change this year). hope that helps.
Hi I’m going 4th year at gcu diagnostic imagingThere is zero nhs bursary offered for this course in Scotland.Only saas grant/loan, they will also cover your travel expenses. The placement was two days a fortnight for 1st-3rd year with an elective 4 full weeks at end of 3rd year.Includes a certain amount of weekend days from 2nd year onwards, 12 hour shifts are pretty common, I’ve 12 this year and had 10 last year, usually 8-8/9-9. , No over nights as students. You’ll be given your cluster of hospitals and stay within those for placement unless on specialist placement like mammo, Childrens hospital, neuro institute etc, you can put a preference for this but not guaranteed to get it. If any days are missed they have to be made up, even in the case of having covid etc, It can get pretty intense not going to lie. Any questions then fire away

No blocks except the 4 weeks of elective and 12 hour shifts count as two days not one so very very unlikely to get two in the same week. Completely different placement structure to nurses and will still have class the weeks you have placement as placement groups are out alternating weeks.
