AS level chemistry textbook answers are TERRIBLEWatch this thread
I'm doing some chem revision (AQA AS level, oxford textbook) at the moment and to be honest it's shocking how bad the textbook summary questions and answers are!! They repeat questions constantly, their mark schemes are terribly unclear and sometimes contain information that would surely be wrong in an exam - e.g. chapter 7, question 3, part b:
"For element X in an ionic compound MX, explain the meaning of the term oxidation state"
Answer: "charge on the ion or element or atom"
Surely if you referred to a charged atom in an exam you would lose the mark? It's not a massive issue but for an official textbook, really? For many longer answers (5-6 marks) they don't put mark allocations, just a model paragraph and the total marks next to it. The mark schemes are lazy and inconsistent.
Please tell me it's not just me who's losing it over this!! Marking the EOC tests is harder than doing them!!
In the exam short concise answer are good. Dont write long rambling answers.
