Should I go to Oxford Brookes or Lincoln

Hi,
I have applied to both Oxford Brookes and Lincoln to start this September. I am studying Physical Education at both. Whilst the courses are fairly similar, the facilities at OB seem to be much newer and more advanced than those at Lincoln. However, I am somewhat worried about the type of people that go to Oxford Brookes as I have researched and 30% are privately educated. I am from one of the most deprived London Boroughs so not sure how I would fit in. In addition, at the open day the lecturer at Oxford Brookes was very enthusiastic which I was impressed by. Also, in the student crowd rankings Lincoln came in at 35th whilst OB was 104th, as these are ranked by students I was wondering if anyone had any views surrounding either university?
Many thanks

I don't know a huge amount about Lincoln however I know someone who goes there that has enjoyed it so far and speaks highly of the lecturers and support. I applied to OB for the same course but didn't like the modules so ended up rejecting them. Of course only my experience but I had such an issue with their admin and contacting them, they never replied or when they did were so unhelpful which really put me off. In the overall ranking Lincoln is about 10 places higher than OB but I always take them with a pinch of salt and make sure to read the student satisfaction for each individual course. My advice would be look in detail at each course and see which is better for the career you want and think which you would enjoy studying more and benefit your career more.

Hi @bluewombat7,

That's great to hear that you are considering studying with us here at the University of Lincoln!

Physical Education and Sport Students have access to the University's Human Performance Centre during their studies. This purpose-built specialist facility houses a range of modern laboratories where students can undertake physiological and biomechanical assessments, and academic research.

Did you know that the School of Sport and Exercise Science has strong industry links, which includes its close relationship with Lincoln City Football Club?

In terms of career opportunities, previous students have successfully progressed on to School-centred Teacher Training or PGCEs to become PE teachers. Opportunities are available both in Lincoln and throughout the UK. Alternatively, students may choose to progress to Master’s programmes in education, enter the Armed Forces, or work in sport development.

You can find more information about Physical Education and Sport here.

I hope this helps!

Olivia
