Can chromosome mutations occur in mitosis too, as well as meiosis? if so what would the effect of this be?
Yes it can, it can happen to any cell division when copying of DNA is occurring
It usually happens during interphase and can be stimulated by mutagenic agents (agents that increase rate of mutations such as ionizing radiation)
Effects. of this would be deletion/alteration/substitution of bases causing a change in amino acid sequence and therefore tertiary structure and function of protein
I don't know about other exam boards, but for AQA you will learn more about it in topic 8
