Gaz031 and I have noted that the Heinemann Edexcel text proposes an apparently arbitrary zero allocation in order to solve a degenerate transportation problem.

Link to my exploration of the quoted problem follows:

http://www.gwynne4.freeserve.co.uk/d...degeneracy.xls

The conclusion, however, does not provide a way to spot the correct zero allocation other than by trial and error...

Anyone other than the two of us studying Edexcel D2? Anyone else any ideas?

My apologies if the link throws an error. I just uploaded the XL file into the download folder of my website, with no link to the download page, and TSR setup seems not to like it.
