I haven’t got my start date yet. I’m 10 weeks ish into vetting??

Yeah the pay is circa 45k. Only difference between the first 3 months training and post-training, is you get 5% less on one of the allowances. So you are getting 95% of your salary in the first 3 months only, after that you are good. Can't lie guys, this is a starting pay salary, and for London, it's bloody unbelievable, let's be real lol!

Yeah the pay is definitely good. I have seen a lot more young people apply for this job. When I had my interview almost all of us was fresh out of university.
I just wish the onboarding for this job was a slightly faster process or if there was some communication during the vetting process just to know what’s happening or going on. Like people make plans or even have plans but because you don’t know when you may be starting so it’s like I can’t be comfortable for serval months.

Love to hear that! I just got my contract as I am starting on Monday. The first 3 days are induction. They did it so week 1 and 3 are 7-3pm and week 2 and 4 is 3-11. There is only one small issue with my contract that I need to confirm; it doesnt mention the shift allowance, and that is the biggest contribution to the salary itself (its like 6.5k). It mentions everything else, and also all my conversations with other officers in the job, even at the interview itself, and even my final offer letter I got 2 weeks ago that I had to formally accept, all had said/written on it a salary of 44k. So why does the contract not mention 20% shift allowance if it mentions all the other additional allowance? I'm sure I am completely over reacting and it's nothing to worry about, but I am phoning them tomorrow to confirm just in-case and will reply back here in-case you all get the same concern when reading it. 36 hours working week (48 is max average) and they automatically sign you in an 'opt out 48 hr working week' which is awesome. Double pay bank holidays, great pension etc. Will let you guys know.

I can imagine this will make the role very very difficult to land and possibly an even LONGER process in the future, probably even as early as 2026, especially if more and more young people are noticing this job, salary and benefits. The Met is not like a retail job you just pick up and leave, if anything they will be even more strict in the years to come. I guess we all found this job like a needle in a haystack at the right time 😆

When did you start and pass the vetting? Have they given you an idea of start date or not yet?
