kinda dodgy... what does a 23 year old want with someone who hasn't even finished school yet. Inb4 people start screeching that "it's legal so it's okay", just because the 17 y/o is over the age of consent, doesn't mean it's ok. The maturity gap between a 17 yo and a 23 yo is too big for it to be healthy.
As long as nothing illegal is going on, both people are happy together and everything is consensual- it is fine. More a question of compatible ambitions & personalities and mutual attraction.
I'd be worried by it yes, because there will be a large financial and life experience gap, which makes it more likely, and more easy, for abuse to occur. A 17 year old is still a child.

being a bit dim if you think a 17 yo has the life experience to make this sort of informed consent

I did and know plenty of other 16-19 year olds who did. I think it ultimately comes down to personal ambitions, maturity, personality and the individual's life experiences. Apart from the minimum legal age of consent, it is more a question of able to find a reasonably compatible partner with shared ambitions & mutual attraction plus being able cope with being in a relationship with the older person and all the most forseeable consequences of agreeing to the relationship.
The oldest guys I dated as a 16-17 year old were in their 50s and 60s. My maternal grandmother eloped with a religious ultra-traditionalist almost three times her age when she was 17 and has no regrets more than six decades later.

50 and 60 what the hell, u sure u werent being groomed?
I've been there with 17 and 24 and it didn't end well. Not the case for everyone, of course there are exceptions. But be aware they will know you are more innocent and be master manipulators! Don't want to sound harsh but you are probably more into a version of them you made up in your head than the real person. Also imo it's not worth getting heartbroken over

50s and 60s. I have never been groomed by any guy that I dated and won't give creeps the time of day. Nor any guy with a criminal record or any criminal history beyond speeding/motoring connected issues.
