At time t=0 a particle is projected horizontally from a point with position vector (xi + yj)m. Two seconds later it passes through the point with position vector (8i + 2j)m. If the speed ofprojection is 4ms^-1 find the values of x and y.

Answer : 0, 21.6

Horizontal motion:
s=8-x, u=4, t=2
s=ut
8-x=4*2=8
x=0

Vertical motion:
S=2-y, u=0, a=-9.8, t=2
S=ut+0.5at²
2-y=2*-9.8=-19.6
y=2+19.6=21.6
