Hello. I want to study marketing at Lancaster but I want to know about the social life. I was told Lancaster can get boring when compared with London and Birmingham.
If you are comparing Lancaster and London, then yes Lancaster is nothing compared to London. Lancaster is a small city. It contains 3 night clubs (Sugarhouse, Glow, and Generation) . Bars, take your pick, theres tons of them. Buses go to preston, Carnforth, Morecambe sea front, Train to the lakes, Manchester and even direct to London. Lancasters got character, a lot of its buildings are georgian. The Castle is fun to see and williamson park is good. The uni has several colleges and each have its own bar. Sports are also very popular here and they have great sports facilities. My eldest is in second year and socially she goes to Pendle Bar with her friends on a Monday on campus. Tuesdays shes in the library studying with friends. Wednesday she facetimes us and does studies at her flat. Thursday she does a pub quiz at the pendle witch which is always packed. Friday she will either go to a club, or out with a meal with friends. Saturday is her day off and she will either go to Morecambe, or to Manchester with flat mates, or she will just chill or bake. Sunday is problem sheet day so she will walk round the corner (she lives in the city) and grabs a maccies, not before going to Badminton society on the sports campus and having an hour there. Or look in the two shopping centres they have, maybe get a greggs. Throw in your lectures, and independant studies, plus your shopping, washing, cleaning etc, you are busy
It's worth going and have a visit. Theres a travelodge in town which is not far from the train station or if your going by car, a premier inn off Caton road.

Hi there!
I think @Ghostlady has given you a really great answer and I can attest to it being true! Lancaster is a small city but because of its big student population, there is always something going on and something to do and also means that all your mates live max. 15 minutes away. In first year, nearly everyone lives on campus so there's always people to see and things to do round the corner. Joining a society (or more than one) is a great way of filling out your social calendar and even though there's only three clubs, the night life is good and there's several bars and lots of pubs to go to. Obviously Lancaster isn't London or Birmingham and so if you're thinking you want to be in a big city, then maybe it's worth rethinking. I would suggest, as Ghostlady said, to try and visit Lancaster to see how you feel about it in person! It might make up your mind for you. Even if you love your uni course, living somewhere that doesn't suit you means you won't have the best time possible and that's what is important.
