Make sure that you read the question twice to understand. I found that highlighting key words helped me. Pay close and careful attention to the number of marks that are given for each of the questions that are always located on the exam paper. For creative writing, my mom used to teach me how to use this handy technique- look at a colourful picture of something for five minutes then try to write up a short paragraph analysing it. When reading the entire question, reflect on the whole question and make brief summary notes on the type of themes that are central to the original text etc. Focus on the key skills which are tested by each question.
