I think it's anything between 4 - 8 hours depending on what the store manager has lined up for everyone at it.

Perhaps ask @Tracey_W about it as she works in Tesco as a team leader and supervisor in what I have read in some of her replies to other people on here.

Mine was the best part of a full day, but that's said it's pretty relaxed just a lot of paperwork and videos. They might even have you on the floor working a little. It should be considered a full shift of pay aswell.

Thank you. They’ve just asked me to come in for 11 am and to bring my bank details and national insurance number. I was just wondering as I have made plans for the afternoon but i might have to cancel them now if it lasts that long

Would it be rude to message the woman who has contacted me and ask her around how long it would last?

Hi

You could have asked the person who told you about your induction day about how long you will be there for as they may have been able to give you a rough time.

Your induction day is all about filling out the necessary paperwork that requires to be done plus filling out the paperwork for Bank details so that they can sort out your pay going into the bank account when you are due to get paid.
Basically you'll be watching videos of health and safety and also about how Tesco came to be who they are etc today.
You might be asked to do some work on the shop floor for a while to allow you to see what is involved working with a retailer.
Also fill out your uniform order form so that it can be ordered up and hopefully ready for you when you actually do your first day with Tesco.

Wear something smart and comfortable shoes.

Hi there 😽

Well done for getting through the process of getting a job with Tesco.

What to wear for your induction day is :-
1) if a girl - wear either a white or navy blue blouse or t-shirt with either navy blue or black trousers with flat comfortable shoes incase you get a opportunity to do something on the shop floor okay.

2) if a boy - wear either a white or navy blue shirt ( short sleeve is fine) or t-shirt with either navy blue or black trousers and shoes.

Remember to take with you on Monday - your bank details, and national insurance number, and proof of work documents Incase you are asked to provide them again.

Good luck

Only thing I can say about the dot.com position is that you have to collect xx items within a xx time and sometimes you are collecting upto say 6 customers order's at once but the handheld device has everything in order so it should make it easier for you to collect the items. It's psychical work. You might be told you not collecting enough items but they will expect you to improve what you are doing.
If you can why not apply for a shop floor position filling up the shelves etc as less stressful than the dot.com..

Your uniform should be order up on your induction day and can sometime be there for you the following week when you start but can take anything upto say 6 weeks depending on how quickly your manager puts the uniform order's through.

Thanks for the info!
Although I am quite active and physical so hopefully I don’t find it too difficult 🤔also is there any pay difference for 16 year olds?

No worries 😊😊

As long as you are able to do what you are asked to do then you should be fine but you'll not know until you have done a few days doing the job okay. It's more demanding than actually working in the shop floor because of having deadlines for to get orders collected so that the drivers can get them to the customers within the specified times that they have chosen to have them delivered.

There's no pay difference at all as all the staff are paid the exact same but you'll probably find out that you are about 40p per hour less paid than the permanent staff for about 12 weeks as this is a probation period and then it increase to the full £10.55p per hour afterwards okay. 😄

Hi @Tracey_W I have an induction tomorrow and I wasn't told when to declare holiday already booked. Will that be at the induction or should I have mentioned it in the interview?

Hi
Not Tesco employee but normally they should ask you if you have any pre booked holidays coming up..... They will usually honour these ( you may have to take them unpaid depending on how many holidays you have accrued by the time you take your holidays) @Tracey_W will advise you more.

Hi
Apologies for not replying to you earlier.

Glad you have managed to get your holiday situation sorted out with Tesco before you start working with them.
Hopefully your induction went well for you and you are looking forward to starting soon.

Normally you tell them at your interview that you have pre-booked holidays and then remember them about it when you start so they can put it into the system that you are of on xx until xx especially if it's falling in your first 12 weeks ( probation period).

Good luck with your new job with Tesco.
