I understood this straightforward concept, up until I read this (see attachment).

The process I've watched on various videos has the light absorbance readings taken from the yellow/orange/brick red colour results. And I'm sure I've read something about a red filter being used.

Does the example mean they would still be looking at the same samples, but using the colorimeter to pick up the blue with an alternative filter? A blue filter?
