Accomodation - Rutland??

I'm putting in an application for accomodation but there's not much left at all - I'm pretty sure I want accomodation on campus because it seems like the social life and community spirit might be better (?), but the only halls left are Sherwood, Willoughby and Rutland. I looked at the student reveiws from Rutland and they were almost all positive, especiallly about the social aspects which is really important to me. But I've also seen it ranked as the 'worst hall' (I don't know in what way?) and that it's hated by everyone else?? Otherwise is it worth going private or is there no social life there?

Hiya, I wouldnt worry at all. I'm in second year now and stayed in Hugh Stewart last year. All catered halls are very similar, exactly the same food etc. I wouldn't go private in first year as a catered hall in particular is really social, an easy way of making friends and has great event etc. Also, being on campus for first year is really ideal!

I am a current 3rd year and although I didn't stay in Rutland one of my course mates did.
She really enjoyed it and had a very similar experience to most people I know that lived on campus so I'm sure you will be just fine.
Like it has already been said most of them are all very similar in terms of interior etc and they all have good spaces to socialise which is one of the most important things in first year so make use of those!
Hope exams go well and you look forward to moving to uni,
Emily
