I have been offered an unconditional offer at Essex Uni for mental health nursing. I have also been offered a full time job as a health care assistant. I’m so torn, is it worth going to uni or am I able to work my way up in a different area?

There are an increasing number of hospitals doing nurcing degree apprenticeships, see the section on the Cambridge hospital website for an overview. My advice is that for most 18 year old it's better to get experience in a real job before going to University unless they are totally convinced University is the best option for them this year.

There is nothing preventing you doing the mental health nursing University Degree in a few years time, hence it is lower risk taking the health care assistant job.
