abnormal bowel movements

I'm 18 and female and for the last few days my bowels have been acting really weird. I have woken up in the morning with stomach pain and gas, only relieved by having a bowel movement. But then afterwards I keep feeling like I still need to go (like my bowels haven't fully emptied) and getting weird stomach cramps every so often. To try and completely empty my bowels every few hours I try and go again but only a small amount comes out after straining and what worries me is that it is soft and narrow. It is just scaring me so much because I no longer get the same normal feeling I used to get when I need to pass stool, instead it is different and I have to strain a bit even though it is soft which is confusing. I also feel like my bowels haven't been completely normal for a while now but these last few days it has been exacerbated more than ever. I'm so worried I have bowel cancer but I'm also scared to go to the GP as I am anxious talking to people face to face and I'm worried I won't be able to explain everything.
There are so many less serious causes for what you have described than cancer - such as a new food sensitivity, not having enough of something (e.g. fibre) in your current diet, etc. So take a deep breath and try not to think of the worst possible scenario because there are other much more likely causes for what you are experiencing that aren't harmful to your long-term health.

Write down the symptoms you've told us here and then go and speak to your GP. They'll help you to figure out a solution.
Sounds like it could just be fibre, or it might be an intolerance. Try taking some fibre and see if that fixes it, since you said a few days. You could also see if you have any symptoms after eating specific foods, avoid them and go to a GP with the information. Don't worry, though. Highly unlikely that it's bowel cancer.

Edit: Could also be something like IBS. Try the above and if that doesn't work, see a GP about your symptoms.

As @1582 rightly says, write things down so you don't forget. You can even write things down (concisely!) and give it to your GP to read (if you can get an in-person appointment).

Hi
Firstly you'll need to make a GP appointment and discuss this matter with them. There's nothing to be scared of okay, phone up the GP surgery and see if you can be seen asap or perhaps have a doctor phone you back later on and you can talk things over with them.

Abnormal bowel movements can be caused by many different factors including what you eating and drinking. If you are straining to poo then it could be simple as constipation but until you can discuss it with your GP you'll not know what is the matter of you.

Like 1582 said in post#2 take deep breath and calm down and Don't think about what you think it is because it might be something simple that is causing it okay.

Also you can take notes of what you are eating, when you are going to the toilet and if possible describe how your poo looks like as that's useful for the doctor.

None of us are doctors on here and although I am a registered midwife I won't even commit to say whatever it might be as I will leave it to your doctor to do this as they're in a better position plus if they think you'll to be seen by specialist at the hospital they will arrange it....
