Othello

Please help,Why can't love and military collide and why is the collision of it significant to the tragedy?
The point is that they do collide. Military and love have very opposite connotations and because they are contrasted from the very onset of the play foreshadows the tragic events to come. Shakespeare contrasting the setting of war in Cyprus with othello and desdemona’s wedding further implies that their marriage is going to end tragically- which also emphasises desdemona as a tragic victim because she has nothing to do with war directly. Hope this helps!
