Hi, got an offer from Lboro but stumped because I don't know if I will fit in. I am not sporty, first off. Yeah, I'll work out once in a while but I'm nowhere near a 'sporty' person. Heard that it's quite difficult if you aren't sporty, as it is difficult to enjoy or get a proper uni experience w out it. Heard that ppl are quite judgy if ur not sporty, also that there are literally no plus size people there + theres a beauty standard.
Is it dumb to apply for accom @ claudia parsons if i'm not sporty lol.
Second, is it all abt the drinking? Heard there's a toxic drinking culture, and you won't really fit in if you're not up for excessive drinking.
Don't hold back pls i need honesty ik everyone will be like 'wherever u go u will find ppl' BE HONEST !!

I doubt everyone in the uni is sporty or involved in sporting events simply because the level there is so high many just wouldn't be at the required standard for the competitive teams. It's also a fairly well regarded uni generally so I imagine a lot of people apply there now because of their strengths in other areas, rather than just due to the sporting elements.
No idea about the drinking culture at Loughborough specifically but in all the unis I've studied or worked at I've observed this binge drinking approach is common among 18-21 year olds there - however within and outside of that age group there are always quite a few who don't engage in that, for personal, health, religious, or other reasons. You just have to be judicious in making friends with different people so you find those who aren't resolutely focused on that.

My block tbh is quite sporty and some of my flatmates are very sporty, yes it was very awkward at first when I would see most of the flatmates going out to participate in sports and me and some other guy being the only ones in the flat but I got used to it tbh and as for working out, they all usually go together in the evening but I go in the morning cuz I ain't got time in the evenings lol.
I mean in every uni there is a drinking culture, yes I will be honest my flatmates do go crazy sometimes with the drinking but on Fridays its standard really but I don't drink so they never really get toxic they just blast their music, get everyone in the block to gather on our floor and drink before going to the club.

From what I’ve been told, you won’t get stigmatised or called out on for not being into sports, in-fact, there seems to be a healthy population of students who aren’t into sports and/or aren’t the physical depiction of a Roman jacked up gladiator.
😂😂😂 You’ll be alright bro. Just be yourself.

Hi,
I'm a first year engineering student at Loughborough and in my course there are quite a few students who barely do any sport, not sure about the drinking thing though.
