As with regards to APA standard of writing...

If I read a study mentioned in a textbook (ie Jones 2000), then when it comes to referencing that study in an essay, do I mention within the parentheses the textbook from which I got the study?

I heard about cross-referencing it, but is this necessary? Is cross-referencing even the right term to use here?

    Thanks

I dont think you have to quote the book; you quote the most original form, so if a book gets it from somewhere else, use where the book got it from.

But dont quote me on that, im not entirely sure that's correct...

Thanks for the reply. My essay is due in tomorrow so I would really like to know where to go from this.

Surely someone must know about this, as the APA style is standard across the board.
