My boyfriend goes out for drinks with his friends but he said to me he wouldn’t want to go out for drinks with me as it is expensive and that he’d rather go out for a meal with me. I understand this but it makes me feel a bit sad (am I overreacting?). I just think it would he a nice thing to do.

If going out for drinks is too expensive, you could request drinking in at home. Where the alcohol is cheap, and then go out. This way it shouldnt be much more expensive than having dinner 
I dont think you are overreacting, you could ask hin directly though. Why wouldnt you confront him about this, just be nice and open-minded about it with him
