I've registered to attend but I'm broke atm so can't really afford to hire/buy gown/cap or get a photograph either. On top of that I need an outfit, I already have black smart trousers and a blazer. I need to get smart shoes and a shirt. Should I just cancel? Will I get to attend the ceremony just not go on stage if I don't have a gown/cap?

I think it depends on your university but academic dress is usually a requirement.
