Explain two religious reasons why some people are against the death penalty.

One reason why Christians are against the death penalty is because Jesus asked for all to always forgive. Christians believe that all humans make mistakes, and when Jesus commanded to people like Peter to forgive all people who have sinned to him, and not seek revenge. For he said in the Bible to Peter, “do not forgive 7 times, but 77 times.”

A different reason why Sikhs are against the death penalty is because they could gain more karma. Sikhs believe that all people could be useful to society, and could perform positive actions to reach mukti, rather than have a bad rebirth. For Guru Nanak encouraged for Sikhs to gain good karma over bad.
