hi
i'm having difficulty deciding between two offers- history (near and middle eastern) at SOAS and middle eastern studies at leeds.
can anyone help? is middle eastern studies a decent degree? which uni is better?

SOAS!Think it is more well known with better rept!N their course are good!

I'd go for SOAS, it's a brilliant uni with a great reputation. I don't know anything about the courses, so maybe you should read the prospectus and things and see which one sounds more like you - the SOAS one sounds to me like it's history while Leeds is more about culture, society, literature...but that would presumably depend on the modules you choose (if they're modular courses). SOAS has a really good reputation, but Leeds is also ok, much cheaper, and I think is rapidly improving in your area of study. But personally, I'd stay away from anything with 'studies' in the title!
School of Oriental and African Studies, I think, or something along those lines!

SOAS definitely, it has a sterling reputation and it's in London (d'oh) :biggrin:
Not to say that Leeds isn't good too, but... well, I'd say SOAS over Leeds. Good luck choosing! :smile:
