Focusing on your breathing technique may be a useful way for you to prevent a panic attack happening. You can do this by inhaling for 4 seconds, holding your breath for 4 seconds, exhaling for 4 seconds and repeating till you feel more calmer.
Give it a go and see if it works for you.

Run some freezing (like, slightly painfully cold) water over your wrists. I don’t know why it works exactly but it does; I guess the cold must act as a shock that distracts you from your panic attack or something.
Obviously it requires you having the ability to run to a sink or something, so isn’t super practical in public :/
