Hi,
I'm about to finish my IGCSEs and for the holidays, I want to find opportunities that will allow me to develop some useful skills apart from labwork. Does anyone have any ideas?

Well done for being so proactive! There are lots of ways you could try to develop some skills besides labwork, however, they may be hard to find. Get involved in lots of other opportunities too, such as volunteering or part time jobs, as these will equip you with transferable skills for job applications after you finish education.
Experience for biomed/biochem specific may include:
- looking at pharmaceutical company websites (e.g. AstraZenca) to see what summer opportunities they have
- Contacting life science companies, such as medical writing/life science consultancy companies, to see if you can shadow them
- Find contacts within the NHS, such as clinical scientists, to find shadow work (i.e. genomic counselling)
Let us know if you manage to find something!
