helix piercing and water

I have booked in to get my helix pierced on Thursday
but in a week I am having to do a lifeguard training thing and be in a pool for an hour is this a bad idea?
NHS website says 'You should avoid swimming for at least 24 hours after having a piercing, and ideally until it has healed properly. While it's still healing, it's important to keep the piercing dry as there's a risk of infection.'

I've heard of people putting tape or something over it while swimming to keep it dry though.

Like the previous user said, you do need to keep it dry to avoid infection. It might be alright to go in the pool but to be on the safe side I would put some tape on it
what sort of tape?
