Hey, I'm new to this thread. Just sent off my application and doing the practice tests - but I haven't psyched myself up to do the real tests yet!

Try and arrange a week with a clinical scientist at your local hospital - thats the best you can really do at short notice!

What theme are you applying for?
Genetics. im planning to arrange something but as for this year the deadline for application is feburary. I probably won't be able to get an oppotunity before then.

I'm getting like 10 on the practice tests but I'm worried I might screw up the real ones.
I have done loads of online tests for other job applications but I just want this one so badly that I don't want to rush into it haha.

Which specialism are you applying for?

Yep numerical and logical, I don't think maths people would have much of an advantage, it's barely gcse maths level- it's more having practiced and thinking quickly!

I would say the practice questions were easier, I didn't need a calculator for most of them. But honestly the real ones weren't hard I just needed a couple more minutes :/ annoyed at myself as i usually work quickly!

Ah well, just gotta hope now. Good luck with it!

To people who have already done the tests: How many questions are there to answer and how much time is allowed? Absolutely terrified of failing the tests after I've done loads of prep!!!

Also, I know the website says to keep an eye out for locations because they are subject to change, does that mean once we have chosen out specialties/locations we can choose to change out choices if a more suitable location comes up??

Yes. Last year they asked again for your choices when you book your interview slot.

My advice is to sit down tonight and just get them out of the way - really not worth stressing yourself out about them anymore than you have to.

There were approximately 20 questions per test, with approx 20 mins per test when I sat them - although someone who has done them this year would be a better source of information!

Hey, there are 20 numerical to do in 20 minutes. And then 24 logical in (I think) 12 mins. Just take the plunge and do them! There is only so much prep you can do
