I put in membership of the Institute of Physics, IPEM and Qualified teacher status with the GTC.

I can imagine that a lot of people straight out of uni wont have anything to put in here. They don't mean GCSEs (they don't seem to care about those at all!)

Any advice for the online tests? any additional resources used for them?

Also are there only 2 tests :numerical and logical (which is the shapes one)?

or is there verbal reasoning too?

The aptitude tests were fine. Not as hard as some of the practice ones I've done, but felt more difficult because of the time pressure and the fact that they mattered to me! I did the ones I could quickly then anything I was struggling with I went back to at the end. They definitely got harder as the tests progressed.
I practiced on jobtestprep, assessmentday, practiceaptitudetests and graduatewings. Just numerical and logical, no verbal.

Gcse were not a waste as they got you to the next step. However, they are unlikely to help differentiate between applicants. I can't imagine there are many scientists without good maths, science, english grades at GCSE.

No, employee here would refer to paid work with an employment contract.

I would have thought the love for science question is inviting you to justify which specialisms you have applied to. Also, I'm pretty confident you should show you know what will be involved in the job somewhere along the line!

Basically I'm saying the questions arn't black and white. Interpret, use some intelligence, and tell them what they need to know about you.

For anyone wondering about the possible interview dates, I have found the following pdf:

    http://www.nshcs.org.uk/wp-content/u...13-17.1.13.pdf

It seems to marry up with the dates for the Medical Physics interviews that bigbanggeek was told about at an open day, so hopefully it is still accurate

I've done my essay questions and I've just completed a kenexa numerical reasoning practice test that my University careers department set up for me. It was so much harder than the practice test I felt like I'd done loads of preparation, but I did pretty badly. I'm dreading the actual thing, now. I hope they have different types of tests and that was a really difficult one or something. Kind of panicking now.

How did other people find the tests?

Guys quick question, is the deadline for the aptitude test different from the deadline for the application form?
I remember reading somewhere the deadline for the aptitude is on the 5th of feb while the deadline of the application is on the 1st. However after submitting the application form, it said the application can not be completed without having done the tests. So, would it be ok if I leave to after the 1st of feb or do i need to finish it before in order to send the application through?

    Thanks in advance

Ugh! I am really finding it a hard time to express myself clearly in some of the essay questions. Because I feel there is a degree of overlap in some of questions and I dont really want to sound like a broken record. Does anyone else have this problem?

it says the 10 am deadline will be extended, but they don't say till when.

I haven't had much time to work on this, so have left it till now to send off the application.

    What ******* timing.

Haha, they all expected us to submit and do our tests early like good little boys and girls. I submitted by app last night but I'm a bit worried, now, I was going to do the tests tomorrow. Hope they get it sorted.

They've given us until Monday to complete the form now, and Tuesday to complete the tests.

Hi, I'm currently in college and off to university to study Msc Biological Sciences this year hopefully! Becoming a clinical scientist looks very interesting, especially as you get to specialise in specific niches- loving the sound of microbiology! I was just wondering, what exactly do you have to do? I'm a tad confused as when I search clinical scientist in google, NHS healthcare scientists comes up...is this the same as becoming a clinical scientist?
