Does anyone know which stage they request references?

I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here as they don't even notify for interviews for my stream until next week, but I haven't been able to get in touch with one of my (would-be) referees and I'm getting a bit worried that if I do get an interview, I won't be able to send my references in time.
when you book for the interview slot online then they will ask you for 3 referees (name/email, phn, address)... if you pass the interview stage they (the hospital/dept you will be working) will contact the referees straight...

and in the online booking form they will also ask for the reason behind your location-preferences!!!

Heyy.....congrats, you've got through to the interview phase and to me it seems you've done well! Thanks alot for sharing your experience, I think it helps alot...for those who are not quite there and still waiting for the hopeful interview... Lol it's been agess since the deadline and getting worried by the minute.

Just a few things, if you don't mind me asking... when you said how you've done so much and so much revision but then none of that came up? I know this may sound silly but I've come across various applicants saying the EXACT same thing lol. So could you pls clarify what you mean by this... was it you've done revision on your specialism but none of that came up... hence so what sort of questions came up?

You mentioned Logical testing.... questions simillar to the logical reasoing online test?

Lol It's a massive relief interviewers seem nice, hope that's the same with all posts haha...

As my undergrad isn't physics and I was interviewing for the Medical Physics specialism I did a lot of revision of general A-Level standard physics so that I would have a good level of background knowledge to fall back on. I think I probably did way more than was needed though, and while nothing I revised actually came up I think it did help me to work through questions that I was unsure of. I have worked in Nuclear Medicine for the NHS and conducted research in MRI and other non-ionising radiation modalities and found this was good to fall back on for examples and general aspects of what being an STP trainee might involve, but I think it would be just as easy to draw on experience from undergraduate study or other work experience for such examples. It seems like they do recruit from a range of different backgrounds. I did find the revision I did into Medical Physics itself very useful. Not a lot of the details I learnt came up, but like I said before, I think it just primes you into a way of thinking that the interviewers seemed to like.

I think when I mentioned logical reasoning before I just meant that I thought questions through very logically, and tried not to panic when I didn't have a clue on something. Didn't have a reprise of those horrible logical and numerical reasoning tests thank goodness!! Hope that helps, and everyone finds out soon about interviews etc.

Does anyone know if we will get a chance to provide a list of preferred hospitals before they inform us of who has been successful at interview? I would be extremely grateful to be offered any position, but with a young child and mortgage it would be difficult to move far away, and would need a lot of thought and planning. I did say about the mortgage and dependant on the interview booking form, but didn't see anywhere obvious to explain which hospitals I prefer as a result. I wondered if maybe they work it out from my home address, or maybe they just randomly allocate within your preferred regions? I have tried asking the organisers, though they seem to misunderstand my question. I am not asking if they could place me at a specific hospital, I just want to know if they ask for preferences before allocating applicants as this hasn't happened yet.

I cant remember exactly when it is that they ask about this, but they definitely do give you the opportunity to tell them about any children/mortgages you may have, and then these people I think take priority when allocating people to certain hospitals. Hope this helps!

Thanks molvin, I have mentioned children/mortgages on the form already, but the problem is my first choice region is quite large, and only one of the hospitals in the region is commutable. I would obviously be very grateful to be offered anything, but I was wondering if they will likely offer the opportunity to rank hospitals within our preferred regions at all?

Last year they definitely let us rank our preferences within the regions and put specific reasons, think it was after the interviews. Hope this helps :-)

This makes me worry because I didn't choose mortgage when I booked the interview slot. We are renting a house and are looking for buying ours. We have two children and my husband is working and can't move. It is very difficult for me to relocate. I only chose 'having dependants'. Perhaps this sole reason is not as strong as having both children and mortgage.

Ok this is a question to any of the current trainees. It says that as you are employed by the NHS you will be entitled to the usual annual leave. I am wondering how that works exactly, if you have rotations and leactures and all of that how do you pencil in time for annual leave lol

I did that before the interview and was a bit panicked I might have lost my booking, but I emailed technical support and they reset it for me. I am tempted to try and go back and edit it again though to be more specific as to which hospital the information I have written relates to, since I have heard from the organisers that it is unlikely we will be able to rank hospitals in order of preference. I don't know if editing it now will make a difference though, especially if it still gets stuck when you try!!
