That's wonderful. Looking forward to meeting everybody, probably in October in Nottingham?
I have no idea how the MSc works. Thats 3 people of the 10 on here.
I'm so surprised. I had the last interview slot on the last day.

    Congrats to everyone with offers

Anyone else on here applying for bioinformatics? I did the online tests yesterday and they definitely went better than for the other streams so I may have a better chance this time...and interviews are after I find out my degree class so if offered an intervew if I get a 2:2 I'll just drop out rather than go through the process only to be rejected due to grades anyway...

    Hi guys

I was recently made an offer for medical physics and have accepted. I was really hoping that the referencing etc would be done quickly in order to make the offer unconditional, but sadly this hasn't happened - in fact, haven't yet heard a thing from my trust. I'm now in a position where I'm going to have to reject another good offer over the next couple of days without 100% assurance that this STP post is in the bag. I suspect I'm worrying too much about this, but my question is: has anyone heard of offers being withdrawn late in the game (for any other reason than not getting a 2:1 - I already have a degree so this isn't an issue for me)? In other words, once you've been made an offer is it pretty likely to go ahead?

    Thanks
    J

I'm pretty sure that the references are to check that a) you didn't lie on your application form about your experience / degree etc, and b) you're not a comlete idiot. If you managed to get an offer it's pretty unlikely that either of these things will apply to you, so unless you put down a referee who doesn't like you (also unlikely!), I think you can feel secure in your position.

From what I can tell, the individual trust you have been assigned to follows up your references, not the centralised admissions that we have dealt with so far, and it can take a while for them to do it - it could be several months before you hear anything at all.

So I'd say you really have nothing to worry about, but you could well be in for a bit of a wait for it to be 100% finalised.

Thanks for your reply mitchell12 - what you said makes a lot of sense and the fresh perspective has put my mind at ease somewhat. This job means a lot to me so it's very easy to worry!

Best of luck in your career.

    Hi Jenny,

Mitchell12 is on the right lines. If you haven't lied your face off, and you haven't given references who hate you, you should be fine!

Don't forget you'll have to pass the CRB etc, and be able to work in a clinical environment (blood diseases etc).

    Hi Quixeh

Nope haven't lied anything off and I'm fairly sure that my refs don't hate me. Also, currently working in an NHS lab and not a wanted criminal to the best of my knowledge, so it's all good I guess. Think the paranoia began when I visited a lab and they told me about a candidate whose offer was withdrawn at the last minute. However, that may have had something to do with funding issues and is probably an extremely rare (and unlucky!) occurrence. A scary situation nevertheless.

    Thanks for your reply.
    All the best,
    J

I don't think you would be considered, after all it's one of the reasons they have a reserve list. I had the exact same worry, as my interview went really well, in fact 3 out of four told me I hit every criteria, but I was worried about exam results.

Didn't get the offer anyway, it's very frustrating you don't get any feedback because to my surprise the interview went almost perfectly so would be very interesting to see my score at least.

    Hi Twinkle.

Job offers are conditional upon the 2:1. If you don't meet it, your job goes to someone on the reserve list. This has happened to a few people on here if you want to look through the 200 or so pages for proof.

I hope everyone is revising hard for their finals!

Congrats Jenny. Do you know what number you are? If you reply to the email they will tell you. Fingers crossed if you aren't fussy on location you may get an offer! I know how you feel, was on 2 reserve lists last year. Good luck!
