Both have excelled at being very stupid, but who is actually smarter? Only intelligent posts please.

Peter is just STUPID. At least sometimes with Homer he may say something mildly intelligent.

Homer is far more intelligent. The only reason he is stupid is because he has a crayon wedged in his cranium. Peter is mentally retarded.

They are quite similar characters really, however many of Peters idiotic experiences seem to be in the past "this is worse than that time when..." whereas Homer seems to live more in the present.

He should never have had it put back.

Homer is smarter, I mean you have to be pretty smart to doss around work all day with no degree in nuclear science and still not have been fired.

For the sake of this logic alone let's ignore all the times he has been fired by Mr Burns or burnt the nuclear plant down or did some other damage.

Homer used to be a bastion of wit, before the writers focused on his everyman qualities and removed some of that. Peter was designed purely to be stupid.

Homer, definitely. While he is stupid, he has the occassional deep and intelligent moment. Plus, he's not stupid, per se. Its the crayons fault he has lodged in his brain.

Peter? Well... thats just 100% stupidity right there. No deeper sense of intelligence at all.

Yep. Some of Homer's earlier comments like: "I hope you've learned your lesson. Never help anyone." are more a satirical than stupid. Most of Peter's comments are just laugh out loud: "This is more tense than that time I forgot how to sit down".

The Simpsons is really, really bad nowadays though. Family Guy seems to be going the same way.

Homer. He voted (or at least tried to vote) for Obama.

Saying that he is a homophobe.

Oh dear.
