For our Edexcel FP2 we had to cover the basic equations of the parabola , ellipse , hyperbola (including its rectangular variant with eccentricity sqrt(2)).

Often the types of question would ask for the use of the foci-directrix property to figure out particular points , as well as sketching. They can also ask you to derive equations for tangents and normals (which can be very nasty algebraically) and also find equations of loci for certain points given certain conditions following on from tangent equations.

I would presume if you're doing the new Edexcel course the questions would be quite similar if a little easier to be accessible with C2.
