Newcastle University Partners Programme

So I’ve applied to Newcastle uni to do Biomedical science and through partners the offer was reduced from AAB to BBC.
At first this seemed great and I thought it would be easy to achieve, but then I realised that maths was not a strong point for me and I’m worried I might not get a C. I’m predicted an A in biology, so if I end up getting BBD or even ABD, will there still be a chance of me getting a place? I’ve heard some peoples experiences of still getting in with really low grades so if anyone has anything to share it would be really helpful

There will be a chance but it would be good to be prepared for clearing if needed, what is your insurance choice asking for?

My insurance choice is like 80 UCAS points but would be a foundation year and I don’t think that’s an option for me anyway. I know that I’m prepared for first year biomed and I don’t want to waste another year. If all else fails I might just take a year out, resit and reapply

That’s a good mindset, if you don’t get in to the university you want to go to, you can take a gap year make some money travel etc and be more prepared for university. I’d say reapplying is preferable to doing a foundation year as you have to pay tuition fees and accommodation prices during this year.

Yes exactly! I’m thinking about doing a masters as well which would be an extra year, so with a foundation year that would be 5 years of loans to pay back. But hopefully I’m just thinking a bit too much into it and will get the grades, fingers crossed
